After dinner, Ekaksh sat on the edge of the bed, his elbows resting on his knees, one hand gripping the side of his head as though it was the only thing keeping him upright. Exhaustion clung to his face like a shadow—his eyes glassy, his jaw tight, the lines on his forehead carved deeper with every breath he took.
